  • Stay calm and call an ambulance immediately if anyone is injured. Try not to move your car from the site before you have taken any photos.

  • Take photographs of the accident scene by including the photos all the vehicles involved. The photos must reveal the extent of the injuries (if any), damage, and position of the cars. These photographs will be required later on during the accident reporting and claim process.
  • Note down the particulars of the vehicles and drivers along with the individuals involved including their name, contact number, address, NRIC/FIN Number, and the respective insurance company.
  • You may leave the accident scene if it does not involve the following:
      • Fatalities
      • Injuries whereby victims have been conveyed to the hospital
      • Hit-and-run cases
      • Pedestrians/cyclists
      • Damages to government property
      • Foreign vehicles

        - Make sure that you have your identity card, driver license along with the certificate of insurance in your possession.
        - There are 3 types of reports you may choose from when doing the accident report:
          - Reporting Only (No Claims)
          - Third Party Claims
          - Own Damages Claims
  • If you have suffered substantial damages and injuries during the car accident, it is important to understand the types of claims:

      • Own Damages Claim
    You are at fault for an accident OR You are not at fault, but the other party makes the report in their own favour, and you may not be fully compensated.

      • Third Party Claims
    You may claim against the third party for your losses if you are involved in an accident but the third party is fully at fault. The other parties’ insurance company will be responsible for paying the damages caused. You may then proceed to any workshop of your choice for repairs.
